System Administrator-Windows/Mac

We are seeking a System Administrator to support a NASA contract in Greenbelt, MD. 

This is a pipeline requisition to capture applicants for future needs.


  • Support project staff desktop workstations and laptop (Mac OS X & Windows), troubleshooting local area network (LAN), standard and custom software products.
  • Responsible for workstation hardware and software configurations, installations, moves and data backups.
  • Maintain workstation security via implementation of NASA-approved solutions for workstation maintenance and configuration.
  • Performs client hardware testing and diagnostics as well as installation and troubleshooting of other peripherals (printer, fax, scanner, etc.)
  • Train and support internal users on proper use of personal computers, peripherals
  • Provide Tier 1 support capabilities, such as initial ticketing, customer calls, and in-person requests. Utilize special remote support software.
  • Support software patches, operating system updates, and custom application installations.
  • Manage and prioritizes work as directed through project ticketing and issue tracking systems.
  • Deploy system baseline configurations using agency approved image deployment solutions.
  • Manage and deploy virtual system as needed using the agency-approved system virtualization platform (VMware).
  • Update computer configurations to meet IT security requirements (such as, system patches, configuration management, antivirus client installation and configuration, central log management, etc.).
  • Adhere to GSFC & Project policies and standards for creation of system user accounts as well as the allocation and use of workstation hardware and solutions.
  • Track the status of user IT support requests and reports status on a regular basis to the task lead.
  • Attend regular staff meeting and participate in discussions regarding IT project status updates and resolutions.
  • Assist with the development of new concepts, methodologies, technologies, automated workflow solutions, products and tools to meet emerging customer needs.
  • Build solid working relationships across Goddard through interactions with a diverse team.
  • Assist peers with Active Directory (NDC) configuration and connectivity using the NASA Consolidated Active Directory (NCAD) interface.
  • Manage system patch management processes, scripting, and inventory control using Dell KACE or other NASA approved systems. Involvement in appropriate inventory management procedures and processes.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
